An Arrival and a Disaster

Drago had anticipated their sudden exit from the Elven Dark but did not have time to react; not that he could have done anything helpful.

A brilliant golden red flash above and to his right caught his eye. The Watr Man saw a blue-white streak come from it. It slammed into the glowing, twisting cats-cradle of blackness in the center of the circle and a white hole opened, widening so quickly the ground disappeared from under his feet before he registered what was going on.

Bruising chaos as he was flipped, spun, and tumbled in absolute darkness; or maybe his eyes wouldn’t open. No sound at all, did Drago hear. He would have expected pain, but there was none. He couldn’t begin to guess what he was hitting, though he would later assume it was the creatures who had fallen with him.

Was this an attack on Poseidon’s plan to revive the Templars? Or was the violence of this a part of it?

A faint whistling.

Then light. Bright silver white.

Drago hit something. It was softer than expected. He began moving sideways from his original trajectory. He opened his eyes—they had been closed.

The Watr Man was draped over the back of something that was flying.

A dragon.

The second thing he noticed. He was over the Evanescents.

Third; many gesticulating Hermetists were below him.

All things considered, Drago felt luckier than he had a right to.

He spotted Abram over the back of another drake as his support began spiralling down. With surprisingly delicate motions, his steed landed near Abram’s and a standing group of Hermetists, among whom Drago spotted one entirely in red and the man he’d first sought help from, Harry Tranker. That reassured him. Tranker’s part of the plan to thwart the will of Poseidon looked to be on schedule.

Drago was helped to his feet just as the world ended.
